The Amsterdam Hair Clinic, located in a raw, industrial building, has been transformed from a straight forward layout into an immersive “street” concept, crafting a distinct spatial journey. The design enhances the building’s mechanical character while introducing organic shapes and thoughtful elements that encourage relaxation and well-being. By preserving the exposed ceiling structures and integrating a seamless flooring approach, the clinic respects its industrial roots, while subtle level changes across the space delineate functional areas, such as hair treatment zones, consultation pods,offices, and social spaces.

At the heart of this layout are cocoon-shaped consultation rooms, carefully placed to punctuate the open plan, adding rhythm and energy.These pods, alongside intentional voids and gentle elevation shifts, create a meandering circulation path that leads visitors through varying perspectives and orientations, making each step an invitation to explore. The design aims toalleviate typical healthcare anxieties, transforming them into feelings of curiosity and positivity through sensory interaction along this journey.

Natural materials, particularly solid wood, introduce warmth, grounding the space with an organic touch that contrasts with the industrial elements. Through out the interior, a palette of neutral tones brings a sense of serenity and cleanliness, establishing a fresh and sterile ambiance that feels welcoming and tranquil. Between the cocoon-like pods, a Zen garden featuring carefully chosen botanical elements amplifies this calm, adding moments of natural comfort and visual repose. Extending throughout the circulation route, the greenery supports psychological well-being, offering a sanctuary within the clinic’s environment, especially valuable in a setting of lengthy procedures and demanding schedules.

Upon entry, a striking yet refined reception area, highlighted by a minimal, curved lighting fixture, makes a memorable first impression, setting the tone for the experience. Soft, neutral tones andorganic shapes define the aesthetic, reinforcing the calming ambiance and ensuring patients feel at ease. Subtle lighting accents, including circular fixtures, add a contemporary touch, while seamlessly integrated digital screens blend technology with the space’s natural aesthetic.
