The New Edirne Project is a strategic planning booklet designed by Kentsel Strateji office with the participation of various offices. The “Edirne Urban Corridors” work plans a strategy of combining two detached sites of Edirne by creating two urban corridors (expansion paths) between the university and the city. Edirne is an important city in Turkey due to being the gate of the country and being only three hours away from Istanbul. Located in-between two different continents, the border city links two different cultures. In addition to this, for Edirne’s cultural and social improvement The University that is on the East side of the city has an important potential. Both the East and the West development centers has to be re-built in terms of urban strategies. In the project two urban corridors has been designed. First Corridor (the southern corridor) empowers the reinforcement services that provide financial and social support. Second Corridor (the northern corridor) empowers investments that includes science and technology. Around and in-between these corridors a garden city development is envisioned.
